Series: Interspaces
The Topography of the Interstitial In the series 'Interspaces',
the artist focuses on the topographical layering of her assemblages
to make interstitial spaces tangible—realms where light and shadow
evolve into independent matter.

Making the Invisible Tangible
In the 'Interspaces' series, Alexandra Zeillinger explores the fractures of our existence.
These are the spaces that are often overlooked: the vibrations between the individual and society,
the fragile balance between humanity and the environment and the painful gaps left
behind by violence and ignorance.

Materiality as a Bridge
Her works are not flat images, but physical objects.
Through an assemblage technique with a depth of up to 10 mm,
real intermediate spaces are created between the artwork and the background.

The objects appear to float in a dark void. This cast shadow becomes an integral part
of the composition (see the detail shot of "The Last Scissor Dance" below)—
an echo of presence that invites the viewer to interact.
The Brand as a Signature
Every work in this series is marked by a scorched title on the exterior before it is even viewed.
This recurring element functions as a visual warning: it symbolizes the irreversibility of destruction
and makes the vulnerability of the subjects physically palpable.
Social Resonance.
Watercolor, graphite, and acrylic settle like layers of memory
over the bodies of her assemblages, which reach a depth of up to 10 mm.
The artist's goal is not merely to show the viewer an image, but to lead
them into the space in between – to the very place where the questions begin.
